My name is Kaytlyne Dewald, I am 21 years old and I am a local artist from Morinville, Alberta. My artwork is an eclectic mix of traditional and quirky. I paint what I like, where I've been and what I've seen. I start with “gelling” fabric on a blank or solid color canvas to achieve a textured primary patterned background providing a contrasting base for my meticulous black and white acrylic portraits. I admire renaissance art where technique and detail branded an artist, a concept that is getting lost in our modern society where "what is art" is undefined. After spending the past two years backpacking, touring through Europe, Australia and Asia I realized my passion and need for art and how I want to pursue this as a career and do what I love.
